Haunting the Ghost inside the SQL shell

What: The CPU counrte hitting the ceiling level of 100% …flat…. hanging..

When: Time when your applications, site, service becomes intermittent, timing out or stops responding completely

Why: The Ghost_counter inside MS SQL increasing rapidly

Who:  values of the ghost_record_count and version_ghost_record_count columns

Where: View and monitor it here >> (run this script)

SELECT * FROM sys.dm_db_index_physical_stats (DB_ID(N'<DatabaseName>’), OBJECT_ID(N'<TableName>’), NULL, NULL , ‘DETAILED’);

How:

*Check this not-so-good scenario from this script:

sp_who2

*Kill the ghost by this script:

dbcc traceon (661, -1)
